IAITH: welsh centre for language planning is Wales' leading language policy and planning agency.Our vision is based on maintaining a centre of excellence in language policy and planning which contributes towards the vibrancy of the Welsh language and other regional and minority languages.
The objectives of the charity are:
• to undertake research and development projects relating to language policy and planning
• to promote educational activities and professional training in this area
• to provide advice, support and services to assist organisations in developing bilingual practices
Established in 1993 to support organisations in Wales with their implementation of the Welsh Language Act which came into effect during the year, IAITH has found that its role, capacity and influence have grown continuously since then. Among our clients are leading public bodies in Wales as well as organisations serving other language communities in Britain and Europe.
Our services are organised along these lines:
• Language planning consultancy
• Research and development
• Education and training
• Community language planning
• Project management
